Level 01 - Lesson 01

A public school-age beginner lesson covering ladder entry and exit, front propulsion, front sculling, early submersion, and supported front floating.

Lesson objectives

  • Introduce school-age swimmers to safe pool routines and beginner water-safety expectations.
  • Develop comfort with the face, ears, and mouth near or in the water.
  • Teach first front propulsion, sculling, and supported floating actions.
  • Use clear progressions so instructors can observe readiness before moving on.

Small fast kicks while sitting poolside.

Feeling water pressure on the hands before moving into sculling actions.

Walking with hands in the water while practising the sculling path.

Submersion - P02

Standing confidence work with the mouth on or under the water line.

Ear and face contact with the water, adding controlled breathing out.

Supported front hold with eye contact and side-to-side movement.
