Now that the students have practiced their passing, shooting, and defending skills, it is time to apply these skills in a real game setting. Organize the students into small teams to play a mini Korfball game.

Divide the students into teams of four, ensuring an equal mix of skill levels in each team for balanced play. Use cones to mark the boundaries of a smaller court to keep the game manageable and focused. Assign positions to the players, reinforcing the key positions they learned earlier in the lesson.

Game Setup

Each team should have an equal number of boys and girls, as Korfball is a mixed-gender sport. Explain that the objective of the game is to score by shooting the ball through the opponent's korf (basket) while defending their own. Emphasize that players must adhere to the basic rules, such as not moving while holding the ball and avoiding physical contact.

Playing the Game

Start the game with a throw-off from the center. Encourage students to communicate with their teammates, use the passing techniques they have learned, and look for opportunities to shoot. Remind defenders to focus on positioning and intercepting passes without making physical contact.

Providing Feedback

As the game progresses, walk around the court to observe the students. Provide immediate, constructive feedback on their performance. Praise good plays, such as successful passes and defensive efforts, and offer tips for improvement. If necessary, pause the game briefly to address common issues or demonstrate correct techniques.

Game Variation

If time allows, rotate the teams so that students can experience playing with different teammates and opponents. This variation helps them adapt to different playing styles and fosters a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Conclude the small-sided game by gathering the students and discussing what they learned. Highlight key moments and commend their efforts. This reflection helps reinforce the skills and strategies practiced during the lesson.
